Investment Casting being dimensionally inspected
Investment castings are the optimal choice from the variety of casting styles in many cases. Investment casting creates and end product that can save precious commodities in comparison to other forms of casting like sand casting. Generally weight of steel and labor/machine time can be mitigated. Investment cast allows the design to be cast at net or near net shape. This means a ten pound sand casting could be an 8 pound investment casting and possibly need no machining versus the counterpart. Investment casting also provides a much smoother surface finish which can eliminate machining time as well. Generally there are some advantages to Investment Casting over fabriaction as well.
