Why Heat Treating?

Oct 24, 2014

The heating of alloys in the investment casting process – in some cases to over 3,000° F – can alter the molecular structure and the alloy’s properties, which would significantly compromise performance of the part. Heat treating, combined with either slow or rapid cooling (depending on the situation) can greatly improve the strength, ductility, structural consistency and other properties, resulting in higher-quality, better-performing parts.
