Depending on the application and other factors, small run investment casting may be an excellent option. Clearly, investment casting is most cost effective for long and repeat runs of parts, however, there are other issues to consider. The investment casting process can produce exceptionally accurate, high-quality parts for applications that require precision and performance. In addition, excellent surface finishes can be achieved with little or no finishing work, due to the near-net-shape process. Despite the potential of additional cost, these and other factors can make investment casting the best option for short runs – runs as low as a single part.
