Did you know that investment casting – or lost-wax casting – has its origin thousands of years ago in the ancient world? It was first used to make jewelry, idols and ornaments. Natural beeswax was utilized in the patterns instead of today’s high-tech industrial waxes. Proof of early investment casting was found in Pakistan from about 4,500 years ago and in Egypt’s legendary Tutankhamun’s tomb from about 1300 BC. A good idea stands the test of time.
