Those who are not already knowledgeable about the details of investment casting may not be familiar with the term sprue. The sprue is a hollow structure that connects multiple wax patterns so that molten metal can be poured into all of the cavities at once from a single entry point. Foundry workers adhere each pattern to the sprue before the entire sprue assembly is coated with ceramic, creating molds of the finished parts.
