Due to the nature of the process, investment casting is excellent for producing products with complex geometries. Molten alloys are poured into molds made from exact part prototypes and can flow virtually anywhere within the mold, forming one, solid part. This works because the ceramic mold is broken off the casting once it has cooled. The near-net-shape process is extremely accurate, has very little waste and often requires little or no finishing, even with complex geometries.
