Investment Castings in 70/30 Copper-Nickel
Proven Copper-Nickel Casting Expertise for Naval Applications
Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts, Inc. (PPCP) manufactures 70/30 copper-nickel investment castings for manufacturers and suppliers supporting related naval and marine applications.
Since 1983, PPCP has produced complex, corrosion-resistant castings for demanding fluid-handling and seawater-service environments.
70/30 copper-nickel is selected where corrosion resistance, erosion resistance, durability, and long-term material performance is essential. Producing sound castings in this specialized alloy requires more than access to the right raw material. It requires precise control of alloy chemistry, melting and pouring conditions, gas absorption, gating, ceramic-shell performance, and inspection.
Built for Complex Marine Components
Investment casting enables Pennsylvania Precision Cast Parts, Inc. to produce complex, near-net-shape copper-nickel components with fine details and internal geometry. Our capabilities include ceramic and soluble wax cores, semi-automatic wax injection, automated grinding, and specialized-alloy castings from 2 ounces to 250 pounds.
Depending on the governing drawing, specification, and inspection requirements, 70/30 copper-nickel castings may be used in:
- Seawater-handling systems
- Pumps and pumping equipment
- Valves and flow-control components
- Shipboard piping systems
- Heat-exchange and thermal systems
- Marine process equipment
- Complex fluid-handling hardware
PPCP supports prototype, low-volume, and production requirements, with quantities ranging from individual castings to several thousand pieces.
Quality and Process Control
Copper-nickel 70/30 presents specific manufacturing challenges. The alloy requires elevated pouring temperatures, tight chemistry control, and careful melt handling to reduce the risk of gas-related porosity. Successful production also depends on gating, feeding, and ceramic-shell process planning tailored to the geometry of each component.
PPCP supports quality requirements with in-house metallurgical and inspection resources, including chemical analysis, mechanical testing, corrosion testing, radiographic and ultrasonic testing, magnetic-particle inspection, fluorescent penetrant inspection, dimensional inspection, and metallurgical analysis. Final testing and documentation are established according to the applicable drawing, specification, and procurement package.
