Warren Controls experienced a significant quality problem with a sourced investment casting. This base bracket was cast in a manner attributing to a misaligned / straightness condition. In order to machine in house on a CNC station our operator needed to perform a very time consuming secondary operation. I decided to relocate tooling from current foundry to PPCP. In less than one month, their highly skilled Engineering staff altered cast process, developed fixture and put in place a real time quality check.
End result:
First, we realized a significant casting cost reduction.
Second, PPCP’s creativity solved the defect allowing us to eliminate secondary machining step saving 600 man-hours of labor annually.
Based on this success we relocated 101 investment tools from current foundry to PPCP.
