Complex Geometries with Investment Casting

Oct 20, 2020

Producing parts that have complex geometries with investment casting helps overcome a significant production challenges for numerous manufacturers. Investment casting can accommodate parts with extremely complex shapes and cavities because of its “lost wax” process. A wax pattern or prototype of the part is encased with ceramic and stucco and then the wax is melted away, leaving a cavity that is exactly the shape of the desired part. The cavity is filled with molten alloy, which cools and becomes the finished part. Even highly intricate parts can be made in a single piece. Few other processes can achieve these results so efficiently and effectively.
