The sprue, in investment casting, is a hollow structure used to connect multiple wax patterns. The resulting network makes it possible to fill all the connected patterns with molten alloy through a single entry point and pour. There can be as few as two patterns on a sprue if the castings are large or many patterns if they are small. Foundry professionals carefully assemble the sprues utilizing their experience and craftmanship.
