Investment Casting Factoid: Robotic Dipping

Mar 5, 2019

Like many other industries and processes, investment casting can be partially automated – through robotic dipping. Once wax patterns of the parts have been made, a specially programmed robot repeatedly dips the sprue assembly, coating it with multiple layers of stucco and ceramic. This creates the shell that will hold the molten alloy until it cools into the desired part. In addition to being a fascinating process to watch, the advanced technology used in robotic dipping can achieve exceptional quality, consistency and accuracy.
