Investment casting with nickel base alloys enables manufacturers to produce parts that are well-suited for extreme conditions and environments. In addition to being highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion, they retain their strength across a broad range of temperatures, including high heat. Among the many applications appropriate for nickel base alloys are jet engines, gas turbine blades and more. Nickel, periodic table symbol Ni and atomic number 28, is a silvery-white, lustrous element that displays a slight golden tinge. It is hard and ductile. Nickel base alloys blend nickel with other metals, to deliver specific characteristics. They typically are composed of nickel and chromium, but can also include aluminum, titanium and niobium to gain high-temperature strength and precipitation hardening.
